483rd Bombardment Group

483rd Bombardment Group InsigniaIn the spring of 1944 the 5th Bomb Wing of the 15th Air Force added their final B-17 group. The Rigor Mortis was assigned to the 483rd Bombardment Group, March 31, 1944 and flew a number of missions. However, 25233 was so war-weary he was found in the repair depot on more than one occasion during a month. It would fly its last missions.
